Classic commercials for products/brands which are still around. This is an internet archive edit of a YouTube series I've been doing. I hope it is considered entertaining. I admit this belongs in the commercials section, but I upload it to the classic TV section so it'll reach a larger audience. I readily admit most of these ads come from Shokus DVDs. John Wayne PSA promoting Christmas Seals on the set of "Blood Alley". This opens with a fight scene. We also get a glimpse of director William Wellman. This may have been seen in theaters and/or television. Topics: 1950s, advertisements, TV, ads, classic, television, promos
An episode of "Howdy Doody". Includes the original commercials for Rice Krispies and Colgate. For some reason I find the scenes on the "changing island" to be atmospheric. favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 2 reviews ) Topics: 1953, Classic TV, Television, 1950s, Howdy Doody
A compilation I put together of classic Kodak commercials, ranging from 1956 to 1960. Shown are 127 film cameras, 35mm film cameras, and 8mm home movie cameras. Note: what looks like an extended Christmas commercial is actually two commercials. (note: these had been uploaded separately, but here they are as a compilation) Topics: Classic TV, Classic Commercials, 1950s, Kodak
An episode of the 1950s US sitcom "The Trouble with Father". In this episode, Stu is in charge of a "Good Neighbor Policy", but has trouble with his own neighbors. Topics: Classic TV, 1950s, The Trouble with Father
I'm sure someone will determine the date soon. "The $64,000 Question" was one of a handful of rigged game shows, so I presume this spin-off series was rigged too. But it does feature Gloria Lockerman, which gives it some historical interest. Topics: Classic TV, Game Show, 1950s, 50s, Fifties
Episode "Harry's Diet" of the short-lived 1950s television sitcom "Meet Corliss Archer". Look out for b-actor and wrestler Tor Johnson in a small role! ( 1 reviews ) Topics: Meet Corliss Archer, 1950s TV, 1950s Television, Classic TV, Retro, Tor Johnson, Sitcom, Comedy,...
An episode of the US soap opera "Love of Life" from 22 December 1955. With original commercials. Unfortunately most episodes of this series are lost. This series aired in a 15-minute time-slot. You'd be surprised how much they got into those 15-minutes (really about 11 minutes minus ads) favoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 1 reviews ) Topics: Love of Life, 1950s, Fifties, Commercials, Advertising, Soap Opera, 1955, 1950s, Live television
A series of excerpts from 1954 television. Drawn almost entirely from variety shows. Most of the shows excerpted aired live. I give a 20-second introduction at the start, and look like I had just been hit by a truck, and use a particularly awful double-negative. The clips are from US series....I was unable to get clips from TV from the UK because so little survives of their 1954 TV programming, and of course shows from other countries are virtually impossible to get. An episode of "Skyport". This was a British series which ran for 52 episodes, but this is the only episode to survive, the rest are lost. It is a drama set at an airport, and a spin-off from "Shadow Sqaud". The UK has (had?) 50-year copyright terms for TV episodes, but it is debated whether these episodes are also PD in the US...also, please note that my DVD ripper caused frame-rate issues with the video. Originally telecast 10 September 1959 on ITV, and produced by Granada... Topics: Classic TV, Television, Partially lost film, 1950s, Granada Television, 1959, 1950s, 50s, fifties,...
An episode of the 1950's television series "I Married Joan" called "Broken Toe". Starring Joan Davis & Jim Backus. Although it lasted three seasons, this show always had trouble in the ratings.
